Walsall 2 - Hartlepool 0

Bescot

12th august

Attendance: 5638

Walsall go top

Walsall go top of the league on goal differenc due to two strikes from the edge of the box by Dean Keates. As manager Richard Money admitted we didn't play as well as our last two games and we certainly didn't defend as well.

Hartlepool had chances to get back into the game and we have to thank Clayton Ince for a first half penalty save and poor Hartlepool finishing for another clean sheet. The flip side is that we also had chances to get a third so the charge up the table goes on, but remember we have not got enough points to stop you driving yet!!

Star Player

Dean Keates - two cracking goals and an all action display

Player Ratings

Clayton Ince

Penalty save and assured handling didn't do anything wrong all game, desired third clean sheet.

Chris Westwood

solid but unspectacular distrubution and positioning needs working on, suprise move into midfield went ok.

Ian Roper

Does what it says on the tin, solid defensive performance.

Anthony Gerrard

Solid display but not his best gave away the penalty that wasn't and one slip let the Hartlepool striker through on goal but he missed so what then.

Kris Taylor

Getting more comfortable each game, came forward well

Mark Wright

came more into the game late on, otherwise I forgot he was playing

Dean Keates

Star man, and sponsors man of the match

Mark Kinsella

Didn't control midfield as he did in previous games missed Dobson along side him also Hartlepool were a combative midfield rather than creative so there was a lack of time.

Daniel Fox

Solid but will be looking over his shoulder at who comes into the club and who returns to fitness -his place is most vunerable.

Hector Sam

Caussed the back four problems he is getting better each game, all he needs now is a goal.

Martin Butler

Not as productive as previous games , Nelson played well for Pool never stoped running and his chase for lost causes created the cross which lead to the second goal..

Craig Pead

Slotted in at right back, and did well as Hartlepool pushed forward, wants to keep the shirt.

James Constable

Different type of player to Sam but hurried the home defence, could have scored but fluffed his shot.

Ishmel Demontagnac

came on upfront, and unsettled the defence with his pace, however got booked could have been sent off for a tackle which was pay back for some rough treatment he had recieved....that is what ref's are for needs to cut this aspect of his game out
