Doncaster Rovers vs. Walsall

Keepmoat stadium

2nd October 2007

7.45pm Kick off

Saddlers on tour to Donny

Well who would have thought we would be going to Doncaster looking for our third away win on the bounce....not me. We will see if last saturdays win and performance was a flash in the pan or has the corner been well and truely turned.
As for Doncaster, all is not well they are just above us in the league with a team full of promotion promise, but on some forums were openly stating two loses and the manager was out of the door. However they beat Cheltenham 2-0 on saturday to take off some of the pressure.
As for our visit to the Keepmoat, I am quiet glad since I have some really depressing memories of the old place...new ground new hope perhaps.

Vital Quotes:

Saddlers talk is very much upbeat following the performance on saturday, although the news on Martin Butler and the reasons for his absence have given a clue that all was not well behind the scenes, especially as this was on the back of Danny Sonners contract termination.

Doncaster Rovers Team News:

No new injuries as far as we know so it could be the same team as started against Cheltenham, although Price is looking to return from injury.
Doncaster have a side that has an abundance of fire power with proven strikers, our boys will have to be on top form

Player to watch: James Hayter

Made a goalscoring name for himself at Bournemouth and could have moved to championship Bristol City but decided to follow his manager to Doncaster, Dann and Gerrard will have to keep a close watch on him.

Walsall Team News:

Same again please, there must be a temptation to keep the same 11 that did so well at Hartlepool. However Doncaster are a different team so Ishmel may find his place under threat and will DD recall Weston instead of stand in right back Wrack.

Player to watch: Troy Deeney

The boy just wants to play, has looked better each time I see him from that first appearance at Torquay to the first goal at Millwall to last saturday, he didn't look too out of place in midfield either, time to prove we don't need to sign another striker.

Match Facts & Stats

Stats don't matter when you are as hot and cold as we are at the moment.

Match Prediction:

Three away wins on the bounce would be a bridge too far but I would take a point if it was on offer.

Next Fixtures:

Saturday Huddersfield at home last time we played them, they hammered a big nail into our relelgation coffin. A revenge mission and a three point haul would be nice. Oh Mr Beckett also returns he always seems to score against us and new signing Ronnie Wallwork returns to the midlands.
