Walsall v Peterborough United
The Saddlers take on Peterborough United in what could be a crucial game for Jon Whitney in his managerial career. Walsall come into the game on the back of a humiliating 5-1 defeat on Tuesday, whilst the Posh will be buoyant after their midweek win again MK Dons.
'"Peterborough is a really tough game. They are second in the table at the minute. Grant McCann has got them playing with a real energy. They responded to the defeat against Bradford by totally outplaying MK Dons. They tweaked their shape a little bit. They had been playing with a back three like us but they switched to a four.'
Walsall Team News:
Jon Whitney has a fully fit squad, with Shaun Donnellan likely to drop out of the starting line-up following a tough couple of games. If Whitney reverts to type, then he will likely change formation after Tuesday's battering, with a rigid diamond formation the most likely option. In that instance, expect Erhun Oztumer to drop to the bench and Flo Cuvelier to take his place. Kieron Morris may also return to the side.
Player to watch: Tyler Roberts
One of the few players to come out of Tuesday's game with any credit, Roberts looks to have that extra bit of quality you would expect from a Premier League loanee. Another start is expected on Saturday, but it will be interesting to see who partners the Welshman up front. Daniel Agyei and Amadou Bakayoko will be vying for that spot.
Peterborough United Team News:
Posh have Anthony Grant back from suspension, while Jack Baldwin, Junior Morias and Leo Da Silva Lopes are all in contention after being rested on Tuesday evening. Callum Chettle is out injured, while Andrea Borg is nearing fitness after returning from international duty with a groin strain.
Player to watch: Jack Marriott
The former Luton Town man has impressed following his summer move and will be targeting more goals against a shaky Saddlers defence. Also, keep an eye out for Anthony Grant who has made two costly mistakes on his last two visits to the Banks's for Posh and Port Vale.
Match Facts & Stats
Whitney seems to pluck a result out of nowhere when he needs it most, although I think his luck may be running out. Walsall 0-2 Peterborough United.
