Coventry v Walsall - Preview

A break can do the world of good in football and heres hoping the trip to Snowdonia is just what the boys needed - as we try to find our first win in 15 games.

The game couldnt be more difficult as we travel to The Ricoh arena for the first time to face our near neighbours Coventry and our former player, now Coventry boss - Mark Robins.

Vital Quotes:

Dean Smith 'Coventry are a big club who have had off-the-field issues recently, but on the pitch, Mark Robins has come in and started to lift their fortunes. They have some quality players there who will make life difficult for us.But, that said, we've played really well in our last three games and it's important that we take this kind of form with us to the Ricoh Arena to give us the best possible chance of taking all three points on offer. There is a belief amongst the players and with a large and vocal travelling contingent behind us, we will go there confident in our ability to do the job'Mark Robins '"They have claimed three draws in the last three games and they haven`t played in the last two weeks so they will be up for the game, and we have to be wary of that."They have come to watch us twice this week so we will have to look at what we do and maybe try and change a few things'

Coventry Team News:

Joe Joe Joe Murphy (never did like that chant!) should be fit to face his former club.

Player to watch: David McGoldrick

A player that has scored 13 goals in a struggling team is well worth keeping an eye on.

Walsall Team News:

Walsall will still be without on loan midfielder Flo Cuvelier, who is still trying to overcome his hamstring injury. Apart from that there are no fresh injury worries.

Player to watch: Jamie Paterson

Although Pato has struggled this season he still has a spark that can change any game and what better way to do it than against your hometown club!

Match Facts & Stats

Coventry go into this game 5 unbeaten, whereas Walsall havent won a game since 1905 (well it feels that long!)
All form goes out the window in derby games and we have drawn our last two games 0-0 against Coventry and I think many Saddlers would settle for the same scoreline tomorrow.

Match Prediction:

0-0. Cold, miserable and boring game of football.

Your Comments

We are playing much better under Robins, solid at the back and looking to play more incisive, passing football. Even though McGoldrick has scored plenty of goals though we have lacked a cutting edge so maybe a 1-0 home win for this one. Enjoy your day at the Ricoh you may be one of the last visitors!
