'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Walsall's training ground news

Talking about our new training ground Jeff Bonser told reporters yesterday....

'We might be there for the last few weeks of the season but more likely May or June,' 'We want it ready as soon as possible but the weather has delayed things.

'All the building work is done and it looks fantastic but the pitches need more time. The wet May caused delays and now we are getting into frosts and more wet weather.

'We certainly won't go up there before it is ready because these will be state-of-the-art pitches, the equal of any in the Premiership, so we won't rush them.'

Of course it is a dissapointment that they are not going to be ready as soon as hoped, but to have a training complex which is our own and not shared for the first time in our history is a major step forward. The standard of facilities is fantastic for this level, although I don't think he is right when he says they are premiership level will do a lot to attract better players to Walsall...another gold star for the board I think.
