'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ex Millwall ace joins Saddlers

Peter Sweeney
Height 6.00
Weight 12.01
Date of birth 25-09-1984
Place of birth Glasgow
Position Midfielder
Nationality Scotland
Peter Sweeney was highly regarded at Millwall where he started as a trainee, before a 250,000 move to Stoke. Last season he spent a brief spell at Yeovil to aid there push towards the play offs. This season has seen him frozen out of the Joke City side after a bust up with manager Pullis. However the fans at the Britannia stadium rate higher than the manager does, so it seems a good bit of buisness.

The midfielder is a creative player we have been crying out for and can play wide left or in the centre. Whilst it is the centre midfield which is down to the bare bones, it could be that the return of Mark Bradley could see Ishmel return to the bench with Sweeney wide. Only DD knows, and we shall find out on saturday when he makes his debut against Northampton. The following week Peter has been given permission to play against the Cobblers in the FA Cup. The move was described as initially as a two month loan, leading to speculation that it could be extended or even a full time move maybe on the cards.

Welcome Peter
