The club have announced that Oldham striker Micheal Ricketts has joined the club on a three month loan deal.
Of course the ex Walsall player has played in the top flight with Middlesborough and Bolton after leaving Walsall. It is fair to say his career has taken a downward path since his single England cap. Spells at Leeds ,Preston and Southend had further questioned his desire although no one has questioned his ability.
We were rumoured to be close to signing Micheal in the Summer but he picked a higher wage packet by going to Oldham. However it appears that despite a couple of goals things have not gone as planned at Oldham with question marks against his fitness again been raised. Although other sources are sugesting that a financial gamble to push has failed to materialise and a hoped for rise in gates has meant that the Boundry park bunch have been forced to cut there wage bill accordingly.
Rumours are afoot that this could infact turn into a signing in January, things on this front maybe come clear if Oldham allow him to play for us in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury.
However despite any negativity the style of play and an eye for goal could be just the ticket for the Sadlers, Rickets is in line to make his debut against Cheltenham on saturday, so will DD be returning to a 4-4-2 at home!!
