Richard Walker in new Saddlers link

Despite the Bristol Rovers management been confident of signing all his out of contract players especially since Aaron Lescott joined the group of players signing on at Rovers, the press have rekindled the rumour of Walsall's interest.

Towards the end of last season the rumour mill had strong links that Richard Walker would becomming back to his Midland roots. The former villa trainee seemed desperate to try his luck in league one. However the play off success which again show cased Walkers finishing prowess seemed to end any hopes Walsall or the other suitors had in gaining his signiture.

However in recent weeks Richard Walker has failed to sign the contract offers in front of him. It is now crunch time for the striker with Bristol Rovers returning to training next week. (a week later than most teams due to there play off involvement). It is quiet possible the decission will be made over the weekend and communicated to relevant parties today.

However on a personnel point of view, despite the papers making a story out of our past interest and the desperate need to put names to those three strikers we are close to signing, I would be suprised if Walker doesn't sign for Bristol Rovers, let's face it if he joins another club he would be a week behind in terms of preparation.....why would he want to do that, it is more likely that he is just trying to secure the best deal possible out of Rovers.

It could be an intersting week!!

Very interesting. I would be a happy Saddler if we signed him, because he's strong and scores lots and lots of goals. Good times!

Big 9, you mention Byefiled has bought a big house in your neck of the woods. Any whispers he may be joining you then?
Aston Smithy
Byfield has had strong links with the club even when he left for Rotherham. Rumours have been ongoing since May. However Darren has always come across as money motivated. He has been on the verge of resigning before only to go for a bigger pay cheque at the last moment, so it is a wait and see situation more news this week.

I hope he signs, we need more pace up top.
