'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Is another oldboy set for Walsall

Darren Byfields career has had more than it's fair share of twists and turns. Rumour has it that the Saddlers are in line to snap up the Milwall striker who has reportedly asked to be released from his contract to return to the midlands and his family.

Whilst he has had a rough reception on his return's to Walsall and scoring a hat trick for Rotherham against us didn't help that, I am sure he would be welcomed at the Banks's by the walsall faithful.

Darren has never been prolific in his career but last season's 16 goals in 32 starts would be a welcome addition to the Walsall front line. Of course he has partnered Martin Butler upfront in the Championship for Rotherham, which was quiet successful as well.

Whilst we would be happy it is rumoured that a few Milwall fans are quiet upset at the prospect of his move. The player actually told fans this only last month...
am committed to Millwall -and I want everyone to know that,' That's what Byfield said just last month.

'I will continue to stretch my every fibre for the cause of this club. I'm enjoying my time here, I'm enjoying the lads and if we make some good signings in the summer we are capable of winning League One, never mind reaching the play-offs or winning automatic promotion.

'All the fans have been asking me if I'm leaving. I've heard people saying the club can't afford my wages.

'The fans will not see me ask for a move. And I have not put a transfer request in.'

So we will have to wait and see, Oldham have also joined the chase, but despite Oldham not been too close to the midlands, cash did always talk for daz.
