Reports in the press in Colchester have sugested that Mark Kinsella may fall victim to budget cuts following Charltons relegation, especially as his appointment was prior to current manager Alan Pardews time.
In fact in last night`s Evening Gazette, the North Essex paper touted Colchester to pinch their former player of eight years Mark Kinsella, who currently works in London as Charlton`s reserve-team coach, because the Addicts will be forced to cut their wage bill drastically following the demotion.
Kinsella, named as an inductee in the Colchester United Hall of Fame on the last day of the season, told the media: 'You never forget your roots.'
'It`s been ten years since I left the club and they always make me feel very welcome.
To be picked in the Hall of Fame is an honour ' added the 34-year old.
Of course Kinsella still has a house in the Midlands and has regularly been spotted at Walsall reserve games and of course was on the pitch at Notts County celebrating promotion with players and fans alike.
The way he left Walsall, was with Jeff Bonsers blessing but it was rumoured that there was a gentlemans agreement that a return was possible if things didn't work out. We have never filled that assisstant managers position.
Current manager and players have been quoted praising the contribution of Kinsella before he departed for Charlton, and I would suspect he would be welcomed back with open arms, and he would be groomed as a ready made replacement for DD should or perhaps when he moves on to grater thinks.
However as you can see there will be more than just us ready to fight for his signiture if the press story turns out to be true.
