Stanley Ultra's come to Bescot

Walsall fanzine Small Town in Poland, wrote of the amusement at the banners on show in the Fraser Eagle stadium on our visit there. If you want to purchase the fanzine with the photo's on line visit the link in the STIP forum here on vital football.

He's an extract on the Stanley Ultra's

I went to watch AC Milan last season, they were at home to Roma. It was, without doubt, the best atmosphere at a football match I`ve ever been too… It was hostile, initimidating, noisy and generally everything that would leave a football fan in awe. Compared to Old Trafford,
Nou Camp, Highbury, Stamford Bridge, it left them trailing miles behind.
Why? The fans… More specifically, the Ultra`s as they known. The real hardcore fans…
Hearing fire-crackers go off inside an enclosed stadium nearly made me shat myself at first, seriously. My mate and I looked at each other and it took a couple of seconds before we realised what it was… The Roma Ultra`s were throwing flares from the 3rd tier, setting off fire-crackers and acting like a group of madman. We`d encountered them earlier on the underground in Rome, where about 200 of them were being given a police escort, scarves across their face etc. They looked crazy.
Anyway, why am I talking about this? Because when I saw these Stanley Ultra's I nearly wet myself with laughter… Forget the Rome Ultra`s, forget the Milan Ultra`s, forget the fascist groups
of football fans that dominate and terrorize Seria A, the only ultra fans the world need worry about are the Accrington Stanley Ultra`s. Yes, that`s right, the Stanley Ultra`s are here to terrorize the world, with their walking sticks, zimmer frames and Cheese & Onion cobs.

Tut, tut Jorge! Not a Stanley fan nor Walsall but I have been to Accrington and what a great day out it is up there. The club is tiny and I wish them well. The locals were bang on and the ale was first rate. As for the Ultras, there was about 100 of them. Nice folks. Big on flags and banners and a top drummer. They sung throughout most of the game despite trailing. These guys are the lifeblood of football. Can I also say in this rant, that in terms of support they were head and shoulders above my experience of Sadlers support. Small on number but big in heart. Rant over.

Hit a nerve cropped, the article from the fanzine didn't knock the support or the backing they gave the club, albeit they must have had more to sing about against yourselves than they did against the Saddlers. It did however find it funny that they call themselves the Ultras in comparision to the Italian Ultras. I thought that is why they called themselves that, it's ironic when you compare the sterotypes, hence a form of self amusement which STIP has picked up on.

Oh yes I forgot we hada great day out at the Fraser Eagle, but you have to admit 1000 in a portaloo is a bit much
Big No 9
OK Ultras may not be the most appropriate name.... Know what you mean about 1000 in a portaloo though. I ...er... got mixed up and went to the ladies by mistake. I did not p*ss in the sink though.

Better in the sink than your pant's...the dam loo's were over flowing by the time it came to go home
Big No 9
Orite you've had you dig ... f***ing hell!! What a disgrace of an article.

Rob, you don't like it sorry take it up with the fanzine. However if you see the banner and the flag there is no doubting the Stanley fans are 100% behind there team, but it does look quiet funny from the away end which is packed and there is more terrace covered with a Banner than there is by fans. As for the facilities well it's true, but thats why you want to move. We are not anti Stanley if you have read other articles you will have seen our support for your relegation fight(not on sat though). Enjoy your trip down and good luck with you site.

"Really from Milan to Bescot the other infamous Ultras arrive on saturday.....the biggest laugh in league two" - Absolute disgrace!
robbo-9-asfc
Yes that's right, they don't take themselves seriously do they, they aren't coming to throw flares have fights and act as vandals....which is the reputation of the original Ultras. They are here to support and back the team, fair play. But if you are saying they are trying to copy the original Ultras your right it's not funny it's just sad.
Big No 9
where at all does it say they are trying to copy the originals??
robbo-9-asfc
Bank's vs. Black Sheep Brewery. A close call. Both excellent ales and that is why Walsall away and Accrington away are both nailed on great days out. Shame I won't be able to do both next season though. ps... what is it with you guys and Faggots. I mean, I have an open mind and all that but really!
