Okay I admit this has been prompted by yesterdays abysmal showing by Mr Lee Probert at the MK Dons. However I am sure every supporter has there own 'The ref robbed us ' story, Hartlepool fans hada go at the ref at there recent Stockport game for instance. So what did Mr Probert highlight as problems with ref's today.
Lack of Bottle too many outside infulences seem to effect the judgement of todays ref's. Our penalty claim would we have got it at Bescot, would we have got it if it wasn't in the first five minutes, would we have got it if he wouldn't have had to also send someone off, would we have got it if the camera's weren't there. We don't really know but these are all factors which shouldn't be part of the decission making process.
Also the foul on Hector Sam by Sean OHanlan it was either a foul and a second yellow or a dive. The one thing it wasn't was nothing....once again a ref bottled it.
Inconsistency Sean OHanlan booked for his first foul outside the area, Dean Lewington nothing for a far worse foul. Or was the ref playing god because he didn't give the penalty!
Keith Andrews not booked for a clear foul which was proffessional in such it prevent play developing in to a goal scoring chance. So when the chance came he did it again.
Ego You don't notice a good ref, whilst it wasn't the Uriah Rennie show too many ref's want the centre stage.
Team work whilst I am not blaming the ref for the two goals which were wrongly ruled offside. I do blame the linesmen, the FA need to be clear on when the benefit of doubt should be applied...it is there written down.
Walsall suffered yesterday I am sure MK Dons have suferred in the past, as have all teams. However whilst I understand ref's will always make mistakes I do feel things should be a lot better than they are now. I know things have moved on but come back Clive 'the book' Thomas and Jack Taylor et al. We used to have the best ref's in the world, what went wrong.
The only bright spot is they say it all evens out over the season...if that is the case we will be adding to our poor two penalties this season.
Post Script
Should the ball boys treat both teams the same when using the multi ball system? What happened after MK Dons scored did they all go on a tea break. Any one remember Cambridge under Mr Beck....very much the same.
Is that something else the ref should be aware of.
