We said that we would hear of Kevin Coopers loan extension. Well that was right so the two Kevins (Cooper & Harper) who have been instrumental in steadying the ship following what could have been a near fatal wobble.....most Saddlers if not all will be happy with that.
We said that another striker would come into Bescot, well that happened. Although my tip off of James Quinn didn't come off with the Cobblers striker deciding to join the Scunthorpe league one promotion push. The signing of Trevor Benjamin has been met with mixed feelings. He certainly gives us a different option upfront. He has had time playing with Martin Butler before so hopefully there is already an understanding. He could be very useful when teams have stuck nine men behind the ball at Bescot as we have seen recently. Also he provides more of a target for the two Kev's.
The down side is Trevor is associated with a style of football....Hoof, which maybe unfair to him. This combined with poor showings for the Posh and Swindon against us has tainted some fans views. This hasn't helped by some less than favourable comments from Posh fans (7-0 guys) and Boston fans (and whats going on there then).
Lets Give The Guy a Chance
The other thing we predicted was that Tony Bedeau would be sorted out, more than likely returning to Bescot. Well he has, and he is yet to win over the Saddlers fans we will have to wait and see if he plays any part in the run in. If he is included lets hope the run of first team football has done him good.
So what didn't happen, Rene Gilmartin didn't get a loan move and it was all quiet on the Matt Carbon front. The question with Matt 'sicknote' Carbon is why didn't he sign, did we not offer wouldn't he couldn't he or what. As he is unattached what will happen in the future.
All in all I am quiet happy we could have signed Beckham and Ronaldo but we are a league two club. We have an experienced squad with options in every position. So lets bring it on.
As for our rivals, Swindon were most active with some young players and the experienced defender Partridge coming in, not forgetting ex saddler Kevin James.
Lincoln had just signed Junior Mendes and a lot of Imps fans wondered if Spencer Weir-Daleys 3 month laon would be extended to a whole of season deal, only to see him move to Bradford. Has this weakend there chances.
Stockport, have suffered a blow in influential midfielder Blizzard been recalled only to end up at MK Dons, leaving ther midfield looking weaker.
MK Dons have not only pinched Blizzard they have knicked Jarrett from Boston. He scored what Boston fans have called there goal of the season last week. However I was expecting some defensive reinforcements following Paul Butlers departure.
Hartlepool have given Craig Hignett a deal to the end of the season and Proctor's deal at Boston was called off due to financial difficulties so he is back at the poolies.
Talking of Boston what is going on on there forunm they recon that they have only 12 fit players and lost three laon players due to the lack of money.... relegation talk.
Been selfish if the are to go into liquidation could they please do before the end of the season as that would put us top as we would only lose two points.
Are you happy with the Bescot dealings say yes or no on our poll on the front page
