Walsall will face Coventry City in the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup. It will be a hard fought game.Walsall and Coventry's reserve sides have met twice this season. Both games were played at Ryton. The Saddlers were 2-0 victors just before Christmas and City won the second game 3-2 a month later. Although one was more a friendly game.
To reach the final the Saddlers beat Redditch United 3-1 last night, hence securing our place in the final.
Per Cederqvist scored his first two senior goals for us and youngster Troy Deeney was also on target. The first goal came when a corner wasn't cleared and returned into the box for Mannie Smith to head on and Par did the rest. The second came after good work by Mark Bradley, with Troy Denney reading his pull back to finish well, before Par scored his second to seal the win.
We lined up as follows:
Bertrand Bossu, Geordie Lyall, Mannie Smith, Kris Taylor, Netan Sansara, Mark Wright, Darren Wrack (Charlton Davies, 78 min.), Mark Bradley (Capt.), Ishmel Demontagnac, Pär Cederqvist (Chris Hanna, 74 min.), Troy Deeney
The final is due to be played before May 5th at a venue to be arranged by Birmingham County FA.
However perhaps the most pleasing aspect for me was the brace for Par, hopefully this will give him confidence to take into the first team.
