A good result at Wycombe, Kevin Harper till the end of the season, with MK Dons on the horizon. Gulp! Just a casual week at the Bescot Stadium then. I am pleased with the extension of Kevin Harper`s loan from Stoke, but I am not totally satisfied. Harper put himself in the shop window last time he was a Saddler and I can not help but think he is trying to do the same again. I maybe wrong and I hope I am, however you can see my concern. Also, I am a little anxious about Sunday`s game. It`s on Sky, so I will be on the edge of my seat, just like I was in a pub in Ormskirk, Lancashire, when I watched the Lincoln match. You don`t get this with a Premiership game, take Arsenal vs Man Utd for example, as you can just sit back going "hmm, this is a good game of football (sipping tea)." This will not be the case come 4pm on Sunday, as I will just have my hands over my head screaming "wing it you…idiot, come on," resulting in the tea being spilt and no doubt causing injury to my leg. At least you get to see Walsall in action I suppose, justifies the TV license fee.
Anyway, MK Dons. They use to be Wombles apparently, so it should be a fun game. They have an ex-Saddler in the form of striker Clive Platt. Not looking good so far. They have a strict and practically one of the best managers in L2 in Martin Allen (crazy man). What can I say, it has all the hallmarks for a classic encounter. When MK Dons entertained Lincoln, it ended in a 3-3 draw, with the Dons scoring a last gasp equaliser. Lets hope that does not happen to yours truly, but it really does promise to be a cracking game. However, this should be the last difficult encounter before Swindon on the last day, as we have fixtures against Accrington, Torquay, Hereford, Notts County, Bury and Wrexham. This should give us the ideal opportunity to go on a run of unbeaten games, and if it doesn`t, then we deserve to still be in L2 come next season. We may not win the title, but anything lower than third now is unacceptable. We have raised the standards after last season, so lets stick to them. We should do!
