Lee Mathews -Walsall link

That former Port Vale and Bristol City striker Lee Mathews has been in talks with Walsall about a possible loan move. The striker is currently out of favour at Crewe.

This move would shock a few saddlers who see the team needing a creative midfielder and/or winger. Rather than the type of forward play that Lee would bring to the team. However if we are forced to play a long ball type game due to conditions then Lee Mathews would be more capable of linking play than any of our current squad.

Lee Mathews is a player whose recent career has been hit by a series of injuries. Hence he has fallen down the pecking order at Crewe. It is understood that Lee Mathews approached the Crewe management about going out on loan who agreed to circulate his name.

Interest has allso been shown by Chester City but any move to any club has been put on hold whilst he has a mild groin strain assessed.

Another name pulled out of the air, is that of Tommy Black who has been told he can leave Crystal Palace. It is understood that the club would be interested in the creative midfielder/winger but wages and interest from higher league clubs may prove to be a deal breaker.

Not my number one choice but Tommy Black would be interesting

Rumours from Crewe say that the move is back on as injury is not as bad as first thought
