Having sold Greg Halfold, Colchester United have been link with a bid for Walsall's Chris Westwood.
It has been reported on fansfc as follows
'Championship clubs still have the opportunity to bring in loan signings and Westwood could be signed on that basis with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
The 29-year-old defender has been a regular for Walsall this season as Richard Money's side mount a promotion bid in League Two but Colchester have money to spend from the sale of Greg Halford and remain well-placed to make the Championship play-offs.
Speaking after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Birmingham City, boss Geraint Williams said: 'We've had two tough games but we've got something out of this one with another point.
'It was hard work, Birmingham are a very good side so we're delighted with the draw.'
This has been reported on a couple of general sites and U's sites. My personal view to this rumour is that I would be suprised. Although we have a ready made replacement in Geordie Lyall I can't see it happening.
Firstly it would go against DD's efforts to get competition in all areas, secondly it would appear after a shaky start Chris Westwood has finally won over the saddlers fans with some solid performances. Lastly Chris moved to Walsall to move back into the midlands and his Dudley roots, how a move to Colchester would fit in with that I have no idea
