League One 2017/18 Preview | Bristol Rovers

League One 2017/18 Preview | Bristol Rovers

Darrell Clarke led his Bristol Rovers side to an impressive 10th placed finish in their first season back in League One following promotion. The Saddlers actually a bit of success against Rovers, picking up four points with a 1-1 draw at the Memorial Stadium and a 3-1 win at the Banks's.

Clarke will be looking to build on that solid top ten finish, and push towards the play offs. In terms of transfer dealings, Rovers have said goodbye to a number of players who helped them gain consecutive promotions from the National League, and have brought in what look like some shrewd signings.

Liam Sercombe is probably the stand-out recruit, the talented midfielder arrives from fellow League One side Oxford United and will provide energy and drive from central midfield. Tom Nichols has also been recruited from elsewhere in League One, joining from Peterborough United and will be looking to replace the goals of Matty Taylor who of course left for rivals Bristol City in January 2017.

I actually think they could be a bit of a surprise package and may just sneak a play-off berth.
