Utility man Edwards looking forward to pre-season

Utility man Edwards looking forward to pre-season

Whilst some Saddlers fans may doubt his quality, there are no questions about the effort and commitment shown by Joe Edwards during last season. The former Yeovil Town man was a key component for Jon Whitney last season, and embodied the solid if unspectacular performances from the team as a whole. Edwards was deployed in a number of positions in different formations, including; right back, left back, left wing back and centre midfield.

With the recent addition of left-back Luke Leahy, Edwards should revert to his more natural positions of right-back or in the centre of midfield for the coming season and supporters will be hoping that he can build on what was a generally positive campaign for him personally.

And, Edwards has been speaking with the Official Walsall FC websiteabout the break and the return to action:

"It`s been a good break. I managed to get myself away to America for a couple of weeks and did a bit of travelling over there. It was nice to get away, relax my body and enjoy myself.'

"Pre-season is not far away now and I`m really excited.'

Hopefully Edwards will have some more new team-mates to become acquainted with when the Saddlers return for pre-season training!
