Whitney reflects on Fleetwood loss

Walsall manager Jon Whintey has been speaking with the Official Walsall FC website about last night's 1-0 defeat against promotion chasing Fleetwood Town.

"We are disappointed. But I said to the players 'if you give everything - and you know you have given everything - then you can`t be too down`.

"We have made mistakes, but we made mistakes trying to do the right things and I can`t fault my lads` effort.

The only goal of the game came from Fleetwood defender Cian Bolger, and Whitney was impressed with Bolger and the Cod Army's set piece delivery on the night.

"It was disappointing to concede from a set-piece," "It`s an area we always try and capitalise on. We had a lot of set-pieces but our delivery wasn`t really on it.

The Saddlers travel to Southend United at the weekend and Whitney will be looking for a first away victory of 2017 against Phil Brown's side.

There will be live coverage on our Twitter page from Roots Hall.
