Walsall's forum Debate

The following was posted by member Buckleys Ghost, an interesting point on the formation and tactics we may see in the second half of the season.

I wonder if we are going to see a change in tactic in some Walsall games.
To me the squad is almost perfect for 3-5-2 especially at home against teams with one up front and a packed midfield.
3 centre defenders, Picken, Roper, Dann Gerrard or Westwood
I don't see a weakness there,
Holding midfielder Dobson, with Pead Wrack or Keates in the other two midfield slots.
Wide men Geordie Lyall has played that role before, and I see no reason why Fox or Kris Taylor couldn't do it on the other side.
Upfront two from Wright, Butler, Cederqvist, Sam, Nicholls or Constable.
With Wright and/or Ishmel on the bench if we want t revert to 4-4-2

I think DD is a straight 4-4-2 guy most of the time but wouldn't be shocked if he changed it about during the game, a 433, or a 451 is also a possible change
