On the day that DD has stated he would like to bolster the saddlers before tomorrows loan deadline another fact hit the radio airwaves tonight.
It has come to light that Stan Collymores agent has said that the Cannock based footballer has been approached by a West Midlands football club about playing for them come January.
By a matter of elimination and other comments it looks more than likely to be the saddlers. Aston Villa have bigger and better ideas. Blues and WBA feel they are bigger and better than Stan whilst also having a full squad of strikers. Whilst Wolves are another possibility they have been linked with a striker in Ireland, and many doubt Stan would be risked at Championship level.
So it would seem that we are the club in question and I would expect him to train with us before January. I would also expect we would be using him as much as he is using us.
The big questions are, Does he still have the skill and desire to do a job?, Does his troubled background provide a barrier to him been accepted at the club? Will the fans give him a chance? Will it damage team morale?
In my view I don't know if he has still got it but I would be willing to give it a go. Some people will question his reputation but once again I would be willing to give him one last chance, after all we kicked him out of Walsall FC once we could always do it again. As for the fans I think they would be divided but if he is playing well and scoring goals then all would be forgiven. The same applies to the team, if he is working for the team and not acting as a big time Charlie then all is well.
However we must bear in mind this could all be the agent trying to raise the profile of his client to see what happens.......time will tell
