'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Walsall and Deadly Doug

Let me quote from one of the football rumour sites, footballrumours.com

I have heard from a very reliable source that former Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis is about to buy League 2 team Walsall FC. The price Jeff Bonser wanted for the club is 16 million but they agreed on 14 million. This deal will go through within 2-3 weeks. Doug Ellis said that he will get Walsall back into the Championship within 4 years and looking to the Premiership within 7 years.

For one I am fed up with this rumour the figures are not accurate, Deadly is quite happy sitting in the box watching the Villa, and as far as I am aware his son has no desire to throw money at football. Whilst investiment in the club would be most welcome I just can't see this happening. We all known the poor record of such sites and they have a growing reputation for misinformation.

That is unless you can tell me otherwise, and no Jeff seen with man looking like deadly going into hotel stories please.

Anyway do we want 20 years of stagnation, lets wait until we are in the championship and I would settle for 20years stuck there.

16 million! 14 million! surely that tells you all you need to know about the accuracy of that story. How can even the best accountant in the land value a league two club at that sort of level?!
