FA To Introduce B Teams Into Football League?

FA Chairman Greg Dyke has today confirmed the FA will discuss possibilites of introducing B teams into the Football League, at a meeting on Wednesday.

It is being proposed that the teams could play in a league sandwiched between League Two and the Conference. Another option is to merge League Two and the Conference with the B teams to form two regional leagues.

Despite all the implications of how high a B team could be promoted and which league they would occupy, Dyke is confident and has the backing of over 300 representatives in the Football League.

Most leagues on the continent already have B teams in place however in La Liga, Spanish B sides cannot compete in the same league as their senior side, ideas which Dyke will be looking into.

This is yet another idea by the FA to favour the Premier League. With the introduction of B teams you will see less Premier League youngsters being loaned to lower league sides like ourselves and will see an increase in Premier League sides signing our best raw talent to fill up their B sides.

I for one am not supportive of the idea.

I always thought that the FA and Football League were two separate entities and it was up to the Football League not a plonker like Dyke, also being a Latics (Wigan) man I know only to well why the route to the top should be left as it is so that everyone has a chance...typical corporate BS
