'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Walsall's new training ground

The club has announced that it is in negotiations with Essington Parish Council to buy the Broad Lane Pavillion site. It is hoped that if the initial plans are able to go ahead without problems that the new site will be in use for pre season 2007.

Talks with the council and local residents have been encouraging and since both parties have been happy to go public it would be hoped things can be finalised in the near future.

This represents a major step forward for Walsall FC who have been using local schools and council facilities for training. The problems that can arise were also highlighted when the gym they used went into administration causing the club to be tempoarily without gym facilities.

As well as a new assest on the clubs books if financial issues arise in the future, it is also a stage closer to putting the club back on a firm proffessional footing.
