Sheffield United 1-1 Walsall - Report

It shows how far we have come as a collective group when a point away at the once mighty Sheffield United - feels as two points dropped...but it does.

Had referee Michael Sarginson not wilted under pressure to adhere for his earlier error then it may have been different.

The controversy came following a tangle between Milan Lalkovic and Aidy White in the Saddlers penalty box which saw White fall to the floor only for Sarginson to award a goal kick moments after signalling Lalkovic had won the ball...surely the least he should have given was a corner?

It had that feel to it given that the home fans were booing Sarginson constantly for ten minutes that he was going to ammend for his original error and on the stroke of half time, he did.

James Chambers was the unlucky soul. He was judged to have handled inside the area despite replays showing he couldnt have done anything more with it...Chris Porter stepped up and sent Richard O'Donnell the wrong way to put the Blades 1-0 up at the break.

Seconds into the second half, a pinpoint cross from James Baxendale found the head of Craig Westcarr who planted his header into the roof of the net.

The game was very much scruffy and neither side really got the momentum to go on and win the game. A draw was fair for both sides.

We now face Port Vale on Saturday and the last two away draws will feel more rewarding should we take maximum points on Saturday.
