Purkiss Set To Stay - Twitter

Despite local media sources stating that manager Dean Smith was set to meet out of contract defender Ben Purkiss yesterday, the man himself took to Twitter last night to announce he intended to stay at Walsall FC.

Purkiss wrote 'In Spain, not with the gaffer unless he's flying out to meet me but I think thats unlikely. No need, I love Walsall so will be back anyways'

Purkiss was then un undated with tweets by supporters who have expressed their delight at Ben's words; at a time when others are considering their options despite a fantastic year last season.

Dont forget that the 2013/14 League 1 fixtures are released tomorrow at 9am and we shall bring you the full fixture list in its entirety
