Downing Signs New Deal!

Walsall have today confirmed Paul Downing has signed a new 18 month deal to extend his stay to the end of 2013/14 season.

Downing was released from West Brom in the summer and was immediately snapped up by Dean Smith. Downing found himself 3rd in the pecking order at the start of the season but since taking his chance Downing has impressed and kept his place in the heart of the defence.

It seems that short term deals are a thing of the past and Walsall are now looking at keeping hold of their prospects than facing the risk of losing them at the end of the season.
