Walsall Youth Team Boss Signs New Deal

Walsall today continued their 'promise' of early contract negotiations by keeping the services of Youth Team Manager Neil Woods for another 2 years.

Woods contract was due to expire in the summer and it was imperative that if we wanted to continue building this 'project' then Woods would need to remain.

We have lost only 4 games in 18 months since Woods took over the youth team and have blooded through some good young prospects, including Mal Benning and Jake Jones.

Speaking to Express and Star Woods said "A lot of clubs have a youth team just for the sake of it, but here it is to produce players for the first-team, so we`re all working with a purpose.

"The willingness of the manager to give youth its chance in the first-team is refreshing and a positive thing for everyone involved in the youth set-up."
