Leyton Orient 2-1 Walsall - Report

In a game in which Walsall dominated large periods it was a familiar story as missed chances at one end and gifted goals at the other gave our hosts all three points.

Dean Smith continued with the same starting X1 that had won their previous two games, with the inform Febian Brandy and Will Grigg continuing upfront.

The best two Walsall chances of the first half fell to Craig Westcarr and Febian Brandy that neither could capitalise on. Westcarr shot too close from 12 yards, directly into Orient keeper Jones when it looked easier to score. Brandy also saw his looping header turned over the bar.

Then two minutes before the half time interval, Walsall gifted a goal to Orient as McCarey and Butler failed to clear and David Mooney turned the ball in ugly to leave Walsall scratching their heads once more.

After half time, Andy Butler saved McCareys blushes as the on loan goalkeeper gave away possession only for Butler to make a last ditch block...it wasn't a great afternoon for the onloan Wolves man.

Sam Mantom had shown during the game, he wasn't afraid to shoot from distance but even he would pinch himself after seeing his 30 yard screamer find the top right corner on 78 minutes...You will go along way to find a better goal than that this season, well worth watching on the box!

Despite Walsall's dominance in major parts of the 1st half and again in the 2nd it was more poor defending that have Orient all three points with 3 minutes left on the clock.

Moses Odubajo found space from a deep cross and nodded in unmarked on the back post.

All runs must come to an end and our two wins on the bounce could have been followed up with a draw or even another win if we had defended well....a defender must be a priority in the January window and Dean must decide which keeper he actually wants to play. No success can be built when the backline is changed so frequently!

We now have three games against teams in the bottom five of the form table, we must look to win atleast 2 of them.
