Dean Smith, has today pledged his future to the club by putting pen-to-paper on a new two and-a-half year deal that will take him through to the end of the 2014/15 season.
When Dean first took over we were languishing at the bottom of League 1 following Chris Hutchings wonderful period of management. We managed to pull of the great escape and credit to Deano this was probably the highlight of his managerial reign.
The following season we found ourselves amongst the relegation fodder again but Deano's ability to spot a loan star paid dividends. The addition of Flo Cuvelier, Sam Mantom and Emmy Ledesma ensured Walsall stayed in League 1 for another year.
Roll forward to this season and despite the great football we find ourselves in midtable where a flick of the switch can see us go either way.
Some Walsall fans have questioned if Dean should remain in charge but despite the results I firmly believe that with the football we are currently playing, we shall win more than we will lose.
Dean had this to say to the Official Site, 'I am delighted that the club has offered me this new deal and I am only too pleased to pledge my future to Walsall FC'
"We have a strategy in place here and a policy running throughout the whole club that will allow us to move forward together and get to where we want to be. Having this deal allows me to continue to plan ahead and build'
You have our full backing Dean but now is the time to turn these performances into points....
