Walsall FC - October A Month To Forget

Saddlers boss Dean Smith has called on his players to forget October and aim for 4/5 wins in November to re-ignite their faltering season.

Speaking to the ExpressAndStar, Walsall boss Dean Smith had this to say...

"I don`t think it`s been a great month in terms of points but the performances have been really good. Unfortunately in football we don`t live on performances, we live on points'

"We`re still getting better and learning the game as a team. Let`s see if we can go and win four or five games in November now and if we do then we are back on track'

Walsall failed to win any of their 6 matches in October and only picked up a possible 2 points from 18, added to this our exit from the Johnstones Paint Trophy to Port Vale.

The FA Cup match on Saturday will be a welcome break from the league and hopefully we can use the days in between to pick up a few loan signings so we are fit and ready to go again against Scunthorpe on Tuesday 6th November.

Scunthorpe have today sacked managed Alan Knill so they will have the usual 'new manager honeymoon period' syndrome.

After October I think that 50 points is still the magical figure we need. Once we get to that we can look higher. For me personally though I think we will hit 55-58pts this season which would have seen us finish 12th-16th last season. What do you think? -Ed-
