Walsall's Striker search goes on

Dickie hasn't given up hope that a striker will heading into Bescot soon. The performance on saturday just highlighted the need for that extra cutting edge.

However now the transfer window is closed things are a little bit difficult. If we want a striker that is attached to another club then a loan is an option, otherwise the player would have to get his contract cancelled by his club to allow him to become a free agent, we could then sign him up.

So what are the names been banded about the rumour mill? Well both Carl Asaba and Matt Jansen have failed to find clubs, the fact that we failed to agree terms sugest that something must give on one side or the other for either one of those to come off. Clyde Wijnhard has gone to Chester on trial having failed to impress at Walsall or any of the other clubs he has been at this summer. Whilst ex saddler and now Chester player Mcsporan is also looking for a new club with Grimsby rumoured to be showing interest.

either blistering pace or height would give us a different option, both would give us promotion.

In the article it says we can sign up a player if the other club relseased him from his contract. I don't think we are allowed to sign a player who's been released after August 31st. To be able to sign a player on free transfer the player had to be unattached before August 31st. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Last season there was incidents of players having here contracts terminated to allow a player to move. I understand this was seen as a loophole and was investigated, the arguement ran around. That a player in effect sacked by his club has had his trade restricted if local rules don't allow him to find a club. This issue has been confussed with the rules on foreign leagues that finish at different times etc. However I may have missed something and will look into, and thank you for your contribution, by the way I liked your Saddlers team...well choosen in my opinion.
