News: Walkers future in his own hands.

According the the Express and Star, record breaking goalkeeper James 'Jimmy' Walker has been asked by Dean Smith he must move locally to continue his role with the club.

Walker who has been in talks for a while about continuing at the club in a player/coach role, has been told in order for him to do this next season, he must move from his current Essex home to be more local.

Walker who thrived last season after the arrival of Hungarian youngster David Grof, lost his place to his protege, but continued by helping Mick Kearns in coaching him and regained his number one shirt for the final two games of the season.

Smith has apparently told Walker that in order to pull off the dedication and consistency required by a player/coaching role then Walker must leave his hometown of Essex and move closer to the Banks' for a quicker commute.

"I sat down with Wacka last week and there are a few things to be ironed out," he said. "The thing with Wacka is, if he wants to coach at the club, he would need to move to the area. He can`t do it from Essex. Coaching is going to be so important to the club, the senior goalkeepers and the youth team goalkeepers" Smith told the Express and Star.
