Richard Money has been quick to praise the ability of reserve keeper Rene Gilmartin. However he has also expressed a view that a period on loan away from Bescot may help the Irish under 21 international to develop. It is due to this thinking we have recently had another keeper on trial.
However we may need to act fast other wise Rene maybe getting another taste of first team action. The reason been that Trinadad and Tobago have two friendly internationals lined up for September. Both take place in Port of Spain,on the 2/9/06 they host Mexico whilst on the 6/9/06 they play Jamacia.
It is uncertain if Clayton Ince who was third choice for the world cup will be in the squad or whether the coach will use the games to look to the future. However on joining the saddlers Clayton stated his desire to force his way up the International pecking order. Of course another Saddler who could be called up is Hector Sam who was placed on stand bye for the world cup despite his lack of fitness, he will certainly be looking to come back into the squad.
If called up the players would miss the away trips to Barnet and Grimsby, and depending on travel arrangements etc they may be doubtful for the game on the 12th September, at home to Peterborough.
We will have to wait and see, but I hope that Dickie Dosh has plan B ready to go....I have faith he has.
