Walsall befell another defeat on Saturday as Andy Butler was sent off for the second time this season and conceded a penalty.
Butler was given his marching orders on 32 minutes after he brought down Michail Antonio and Anthony Wordsworth converted the penalty to give the U's all three points.
Both Butler and boss Dean Smith were left disappointed and aggrieved with the red card as Butler has been given his marchin gorders twice this season, although his red card against Hartlepool (August 13) was eventually rescinded.
The Saddlers started of well enough and a freekick on 11 minutes saw Richard Taundry put the ball wide.
However, they spent much of the game on the backfoot and struggled with only ten men.
The second half was as positive as it could be but getting back into the game seemed a distant dream for them.
Heads are hanging low right now for the fans and supporters alike and it is disappointing how a bright start has fizzled out as we head into the autumn.
Saddlers are without a win since the JPT victory against Shrewsbury Town a month and 6 games ago today.
We now look tentatively ahead to the home match against Carlisle United on Saturday.
