Having had a look at the pubs in the vacinity what can we expect from the ground and the locals.
All in all the vast majority of the locals are a friendly bunch and I wouldn't expect any trouble alhough there will be scope for a good atmosphere despite the expectation of a low attendance.
It will cost an adult £15 and a reduced rate of £9 for those older or younger !! the programme called the voice of spotland will cost £2.50.
We will be in the Westrose Lesiure stand which is also known as the Willbutts lane stand. This is a relatively new construction and is of a cantilever style so no posts in the way. However the days when away fans could create a din with one man and a dog due to the old stand having a low roof have sadly gone. So we will have to have our singing voices on. Especially as the stand is located along the one side of the pitch rather than the traditional behind the goal location for away fans.
A word of warning there is a chip shop in Wilbutts lane but has quite frequently a large queue so get there early or use pub food or the usual in ground pies.
How to get there since I am no AA man I have begged and borrowed the following details.
Exit the M62 at Junction 20 and take the A627(M) towards Rochdale. At the end of the A627(M) you should be in the left hand lane to turn left at the traffic lights. Go straight on over the roundabout (approach in the middle lane) into Roch Valley Way. At the next crossroads (where the Cemetery pub is on the corner) go straight onto Sandy Lane, where the ground can be found on the right after approx 3/4 mile.
Car Parking at the ground is now for permit holders only, so it is a case of either street parking or using the matchday parking facility at Oulder Hill School. The school is located on the way up to the ground, on the left hand side, along Sandy Lane (it is then a 10 minute walk uphill to the ground). If you do elect to park on the street then be wary of the 'residents only' parking scheme, as otherwise you could end with a parking ticket for your trouble.
It should be a good day out...enjoy
