Starlet to shine: Smith backs Bowerman

19 year old George Bowerman made his Saddlers debut on Tuesday night and boss Dean Smith says he can achieve great things at Walsall.

Fellow youngster Will Grigg has already become a firm member of the team, and Bowerman is tipped to shadow this in his season of first team action after signing a new contract in the close season.

He is boosted by Saddler's participation on a reserve league this season and Smith says it can only bring Bowerman to first team standard.

Smith told the Express and Star: "It`s a big opportunity. I`ve always said that to him. He`s a goalscorer and there will be plenty of chances reserve games for him this season.'

As the season progresses I am sure we will be hearing lots about him so we wish George luck!

Up The Saddlers!
