'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Finale: Port Vale 1-1 Walsall

Saddlers finished up their season preparations today with a 1-1 draw at Port Vale.

Walsall battled hard and played some good and promising football, but were unable to clinch the winner against the league 2 side.

M Richards, (Marc that is!) put the homeside ahead on 9 minutes and they played some decent football, with Sam Morsy doing well to keep out a Gnapka chance. Walsall were upping their fitness but lacked the final finishes they needed.

It took a bizarre own goal to put Walsall level with goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson failing to securely catch the ball and it rebounding off John McCombe and into the net.

Walsall played some promising football in the latter stages but the hosts kept them at bay.

So that's it! 1 week to go and things start to get really interesting. Maybe we will see a few signings before then who knows!

Up The Saddlers!
