Whitney returns to physio post

Whitney returns to physio post

Jon Whitney has stepped down from being assistant to Dean Smith and has gone back to his day job as physiotherapist.

He was made assistant manager in January when Chris Hutchings left the club, but will now do what he knows best at the treatment table.

"I`m not recognised as an assistant manager, I`m recognised more as a physio and that`s where I see myself.' He told the Express and Star.

The management set up is far from complete yet, as there is now both head of youth (Smith's old job) and assistant manager positions to fill.

It is also unclear what role Chris Nicholl will play in the season ahead, as he advised Dean Smith greatly in The Great Escape last season.

Good luck to Whitney, we will enjoy seeing him in his original role!
