Good News! Young Duo Earn Professional Deals

Youth teammates Jake Jones and Connor Deards have been handed professional contracts by the club.

Left footed Winger Jones, 18, has impressed in the youth team and scored 12 goals in 18 league appearances this season, most recently in the 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic on April 16th.

His teammate Deards,also 18, a centre forward is the highest goalscorer for the youth team with an outstanding 19 goals in 21 appearances.

Dean Smith told the official site: 'Both players have worked really hard and developed well over the past two years....they fully deserve to be awarded professional contracts.'

Walsall have many first team players that have come through the Walsall youth team, those these two are potentially Walsall's future!

In the current first team there is Richard Taundry, Will Grigg, Alex Nicholls, Jamie Paterson and Manny Smith who came from the youth academy.
