Andy Oakes Swansea bound!!!

Andy Oakes Swansea bound!!!

Well after turning down a contract offer at Bescot (much to the relief of some saddlers) Andy Oakes appears to be chasing the extra money he was after in Swansea. It was mentioned today that the ex Derby stopper has gone on trial at the Welsh club.

Andy was a goal keeper who was certainly an improvement on the previous keepers, namely Paston and Mckinney, but failed when the pressure was on. Errors at important times spoilt the relationship between keeper and fans, and much was written at the time about the er how can I put it...frank exchange of views swopped with the saddler fans at Stoke. However matters didn't improve with some fans nick naming him Andy Jokes!! At times when the confidence had drained away he looked like a rabbit scared in the headlights of an oncoming Volvo.

Despite this Andy was also capable of pulling off a number of class saves, to show his true potential. If Swansea can rebuild his shattered confidence they will have a good keeper at this level.
