The Vital Five: Comings and Goings

The Vital Five: Comings and Goings

This week saw a lot of action at Walsall. So here is a quick rundown!

1. Steve Jones has left Walsall for SPL side Motherwell until the end of the season. The 34 year old exited after her lost his place in the starting lineup following a long time injured.

2. The Saddlers have a new recruit and strengthen the midfield in 30 year old Matthew Gill. On a season long loan from Norwich City, he was previously a popular player at tomorrow's opponents Exeter City, as well as spells at Peterborough United and Notts County.

3. Dean Smith has been given the manager's job until the end of the season. The board are currently mulling over prospective candidates for the permanent role.

4. The rumours of goalkeeper Jonny Brain leaving the side after he lost his starting position have been quashed with Dean Smith declaring him an important part of the squad.

5. Walsall travel to Exeter City ahead of tomorrow's clash with The Grecians looking to climb off the bottom of the table. City have won 1, lost 2 and drawn 2 of their last 5 league one games. They lie in 16th place.
