Taundry's a happy captain Saddler

Richard Taundry has told how proud he is to wear the armband, especially since he is a lifelong Saddler fan.

He picked up the armband for Tuesday's game against Peterborough, as Club captain Darren Byfield is out injured with a knee injury and stand in skipper Aaron Lescott was on the bench. Taundry came through the ranks of the youth team and made his debut in the 2007-2008 season.

Taundry told the official site: 'I was extremely proud to captain the team in the last game..being a local lad who watched Walsall whilst growing up, it was a massive honour for me.

The 21 year old made a tentative nod towards tomorrow's clash against Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup first round, adding that despite their blue square conference position, they are not to be messed with.

He concluded: 'They have a lot of League experience in their team, but we will be looking to go there and do what we should have done from the start of the season.'

What do you think of Taundry's selection as captain and his thoughts on tomorrow match? Comment in the forum!
