Clayton McDonald has urged his team mates to play 'ugly' to help them out of their losing rut.
Walsall are struggling to get on top of their opponents, which has caused them to succumb to four straight league defeats.
The defender, who has recently got back into the team after being dropped behind Oliver Lancashire, told the Express and Star: 'You don`t mind how you win, there are times when it`s ugly but as long as you win everyone is happy.'
"You have to win your one-on-one battles and the team has to press. Teams don`t stand off you and let you have the ball...we would prefer to play football but there are times and places when you just can`t do that.'He added.
Speaking of his frustrations of being on the bench, McDonald concluded: 'It doesn`t matter where. It was frustrating but I was working hard on the training field doing my extra stuff and eventually got back in the team, hopefully I`ll stay in..I`m a very hungry person, I want to be successful in the game, so it gives you an extra incentive to get back in the team."
McDonald has some good advice for the team, they do need to be ruthless on the ball and dangerous in front of goal. However, the Saddlers have the ability to play decent football. A supporter pays their money to see quality football, not just a victory. Consistency in play is the key to Saddler success.
