Macken: Walsall ready for challenge

Jonathan Macken is backing the Saddlers out of their mini slump and back to winning ways.

Walsall suffered a frustrating 3-2 defeat at the hands of Rochdale last Saturday, and Macken is keen for the team's fortune to change.

He told the official site: ''We can take heart from our performance at Rochdale last week, but it ended in defeat and that is not good enough.'

The defeat at the Spotland Stadium is arguably reflective of the progress the Saddlers are making, but silly mistakes are hampering their progress.

Macken added: 'We know that we have the ability here and can play. We have to rectify the result and the ideal time to do it is on Saturday.'
