Competition on to find new captain

Competition on to find new captain

Saddler boss Chris Hutchings has said that he will give a few different players a run out over pre season to find a new captain.

Hutchings said, speaking to the Express and Star: "I wouldn`t rule anyone out but you want 11 talkers out there, right through to the keeper. They`ve got to bark orders and give information out."

Ex captain Mark Hughes was given the captain's armband in his first season as a Saddler, so 31 year old and experienced new signing Aaron Lescott will likely be in the running to claim the arm band.

Vital Walsall fans have already chosen Manny Smith as their preferred new captain, and the experience of Jones and Gray will also be likely options to lead the team.

Hutchings added: '"I`m looking for them all to push, not only the young lads but also the older lads. I can only start 11 and it will be up to them to show what they can do."

Look out for captain's ratings as pre season season gets under way, here on Vital Walsall!
