Four new recruits sign for the Saddlers

Defenders Aaron Lescott, Oliver Lancashire and goalkeeper David Bevan have signed on the dotted line for the Saddlers on one year contracts.

Julian Gray has eventually signed his contract extension offered to him back in May.

Lescott, having enjoyed six years at Bristol Rovers, joins Walsall following a successful loan spell. The 31 year old was loaned out to Cheltenham Town last season after failing to regain his first team spot after injury. He can play in midfield, but his position is mainly right back. Speaking in the official site he said: '(Walsall) is a nice environment in which to play my football and I will try to stay fit and healthy and play as many games as possible to help the team build on last season.'

21 Year Old Lancashire has England experience at under 19 level and first team experience with Southampton, after starting his career at Crystal Palace. He was loaned out to Grimsby Town last season, where he made 24 appearances. He is a towering 6ft1 centre back who is sure to replace the presence of Jamie Vincent. Chris Hutchings, also speaking on the official site said: ''Oliver is young lad who we have been monitoring for some time. He has showed plenty of promise whilst coming through the ranks at Southampton and we have had some good reports on him.'

Much needed cover has now been installed for new keeper Jonny Brain, with David Bevan, also 21. The keeper, a scholar from Aston Villa, has also had loan spells at Ilkseton Town, Tamworth and Solihull Moors. He has Republic of Ireland experience at youth level.

I'm relieved that squad reinforcements have now been put in place and they look like they have potential to be decent for the Saddlers. We now await pre season so we can see for ourselves!
