'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Shake up of executive board announced

The new executive board was announced today, and is vowing to develop and expand the club over the next year.

In the changes, Roy Whalley has stepped down as Chief Executive to become Commercial Director with financial director Stefan Gamble succeeding him. Dan Mole is the new club secretary, taking over from the assistant secretary role.

Speaking to the Express and Star, Gamble said: 'This represents a real opportunity to build on the sound foundations already in place at the club and to introduce fresh new energy and ideas to play a key role in taking the club forward. To do this we need to continue to strengthen both on and off the field as well as increasing our supporter base.'

Attendances at the Banks's were the second lowest in league one, with a dismal average gate of just 4,028 last season.

He added: '"We need to be able to implement suggestions and ideas coming from those supporters to make the match-day experience something everyone looks forward to.'

Gamble has said that he will expand communication to the supporters through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter,as well as improving links between the board and the supporter's club.

He continued: 'I want to bring fresh ideas and new energy to build on. (Whalley) has set great foundations in the last 20 years, i`m stepping in to a role where there`s a lot of established principles and activities we can only enhance and improve on.'

It's a step in the right direction that there has is new blood back at the Banks's, with both Gamble and Mole in their 30s. I hope Gamble sticks to his words and takes to the street and gets the turnstiles swinging!
