Chippenham Striker To Sign

Chippenham Striker To Sign

Paul Merson is closing in on James Constable from non league team Chippenham Town.

The 20 year old striker has been courted by a host of clubs including Swindon, Rushden and Diamonds, Bristol City and Swansea but it seems Merson might just have topped them. The fee reported is in the region of £4 000 and the player, who has been training with Walsall this week, is going to talk personal terms with The Saddlers.

Merson confirmed: 'He's turned down Swansea and Bristol City to come here and if we can sort out his wages, he'll be with us from Wednesday next week. He'll be on loan until the end of the year and then sign permanently from January the first.'
